CLEVELAND, Ohio — With temperatures nearing the 90 degree mark throughout the area today, a Michigan-based company offered a free way to cool off and to help a Cleveland organization.

Denali Flavors, developers of the Moose Tracks flavor of ice cream, along with Premium Ruggles Ice Cream, gave away free scoops of ice cream in downtown Cleveland.

The idea was to offer 10,000 scoops of Moose Tracks to anyone who wished to have one on Public Square Tuesday from 11  a.m. to 3 p.m.

In exchange for each scoop eaten, Denali Flavors donated $1 to The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland, in an effort to raise $10,000 of new support for its community programs.

The free ice cream giveaway was set up near the northwest quadrant of Public Square.
