BOSTON — After a tough loss yesterday, the Indians had a chance to salvage a split with the Red Sox, and Cory Kluber did his part.

The rookie right-hander was terrific, striking out a career-high 10 Boston batters, and only allowing one run on three hits in seven innings.

Kluber’s battery-mate gave him an early lead.

Carlos Santana smacked a two-run single in the first inning, and the Tribe led early.

Jason Kipnis and Nick Swisher both added solo shots and Kluber left with a 5-1 lead in the 7th.

But Chris Perez imploded again in the 9th before leaving with an injury.

Then Joe Smith gave up a two-run, game-losing double.

Boston stole the game 6 to 5, and the series.

The Indians head to Cincinnati to take on the Reds at 1:10 p.m. Monday.
