MESA, Ariz. — After the desert experienced a day full of rain and even hail on Saturday, the Tribe tarred up their bats and kept their chins up in Mesa, Arizona to face the Chicago Cubs in their home stadium (Cactus League).
Outnumbered 5 to 1, Tribe fans celebrated when Jason Kipnis jacked his first homer of the year in the top of the fifth and the Indians never looked back, winning 9-2.
It was a quiet day for slugger Nick Swisher, going 1 for 3.
Cedric Hunter also lined a shot to right for his first homer of spring training.
Zach McAllister got his first victory of the preseason.
